How To Train Our Agility

We are excited to inform you that at the request of qigong lovers, Dr. Hu is going to talk about the basic principles of Medical Qigong at his monthly qigong workshops in Berkeley, starting from September 8. The topic for the 9/8 workshop is “12 Qigong Treasures and Their Principles.

“12 Qigong Treasures for Beginners” is Dr. Hu’s most popular Qigong-teaching DVD. It was first published in 1999, and its revised edition appeared in 2006. Used in over 200 Dr. Hu’s qigong workshops and in numerous private sessions with his patients, this “12 Qigong Treasures” has successfully introduced the concept and practice of Medical Qigong to tens of thousands of qigong lovers around the world.

After practicing 12 Qigong Treasures for several weeks, many people begin to experience the sensation of qi and its curative effect of improved blood circulation. Many people have experienced how medical Qigong is the easiest way to relax their body. Shortly after finding out how to relax their body, they discover that it can also quiet down their mind. Of course, meditation and Taichi are also good practices. But playing the short and easy “12 Qigong Treasures” for 10 to 15 minutes a day, may be even more time-efficient!

The publication of the “12 Qigong Treasures” and its sequel “Creating Flexibility Through Qigong” DVDs debunked the myth that learning the esoteric Chinese Qigong takes a life-long efforts and dedication. With the help of watching the DVDs at home, many people reported that after practicing qigong for a couple of months, they found their armored body “thawed” like “melted ice”. According to Dr. Hu, the time spent in learning Medical Qigong can be drastically reduced if the learners know exactly what they should be practicing and how to practice them based on basic principles.

Two basic principles used in “12 Qigong Treasures” will be introduced and thoroughly practiced in this workshop.

First Principle Shifting one’s body weight for free-flowing movements.

1) How is walking the most natural way to shift one’s body weight left and right?

2) How to shift one’s body weight front and back?

Second Principle Any circular, round or spiral movements involve shifting of body weight, therefore, they are more relaxing than linear movements.

1) How to make whole body movements?

2) Why are wrist movements so important in Medical Qigong?

Qigong practice in this workshop will include:

1) The “12 Qigong Treasures”.

2) Selections from Wild Goose -1 (The First 64 Movements)

3) Medical Qigong other than Wild Goose, such as:

a) “Tonify the Yin” Walking Qigong

b) Selections from Aromatic Qigong (2).
